Camps & Tournaments

Lacrosse camps and tournaments near Fort Wayne

Camps build skills in a concentrated block. Tournaments test them against teams you never see in the regular season. Here is how both work for northeast Indiana players.

What a camp looks like

Most camps run a few consecutive days, several hours each day. Mornings are skills and position work — cradling, passing, shooting, defensive footwork, goalie reps. Afternoons move into small-sided games and scrimmages so the morning's work gets used under pressure.

Camps are the single best entry point for a beginner. A player who has never held a stick on Monday is usually playing in a live scrimmage by Thursday.

What a tournament weekend looks like

Travel tournaments pack three to five shortened games into a weekend, often at a multi-field complex within driving distance of Fort Wayne. Rosters are built from players across a region rather than a single school.

Tournaments suit players who already have the basics and want tougher competition, more field time, and — for older high schoolers — visibility with college coaches who attend events.

The Year

How the lacrosse calendar runs in Indiana

Exact dates change every year, but the shape of the season is consistent.

Spring (March–May)
School and club season. Most players are in games weekly, so extra training is light and targeted.
Summer (June–August)
Camp season, plus the bulk of travel tournament weekends. The biggest block of development in the year.
Fall (September–November)
Fall ball and smaller tournaments. A good time for beginners to try the sport without committing to a full season.
Winter (December–February)
Indoor skill work, box-style play and conditioning. Quiet on games, heavy on fundamentals.

Families new to the sport often ask whether travel play is required. It is not. Plenty of strong Indiana high school players only add tournaments in their sophomore or junior year, once they know they want to keep going.
